KING’S Lynn have pulled off the signing of the Premiership’s top rider as Max Fricke joins the club after three years with Leicester.
Fricke makes the switch to the Adrian Flux Arena having led the Lions to the league Grand Final as well as the KO Cup in 2025, the latter being won at the expense of the Stars in the Final.
Lynn boss Rob Lyon accepts signing the Aussie superstar on an average of 9.89 is a departure from their recent team-building strategy, but he believes the move will be more than worthwhile.
Lyon said:
“We had been thinking about potentially staying as we were, because it was obvious to anyone that without injuries this year we would have been comfortably in the mix.
“But then when the rules were being discussed, we weren’t convinced that we would have enough points for a very strong reserve to go with the same type of formula. It was clearly evident with a reduced points limit that it wasn’t going to be possible.
“King’s Lynn have been without a recognised No.1 really on a permanent basis since 2019, so why not? We realise it takes up a lot of points, but we feel we have enough excitement in the rest of the team to cope with it.
“I’m excited to work with him. He’s a nice guy, very professional and level-headed, and hopefully he can bang some points in for us like he has done for Leicester and others over the years.”
