Speedway GP first substitute star Anders Thomsen is undergoing checks after suffering injuries at the European Team Championship Semi-Finals in Pardubice this afternoon.

The Danish star crashed out of heat two with Norwegian star Mathias Pollestad and both riders took no further part in the meeting, which the Danes won convincingly to book their place in the Final.

Thomsen was taken to hospital for checks, but a post on Gorzow’s official Facebook page reports that he suffered three broken ribs in the incident, while Pollestad was left battered and bruised.

Despite his crash, the Danes won their Semi-Final on a huge 57 points – just three short of a 60-point full house. Former Danish champions Mikkel Michelsen and Rasmus Jensen both scored 15-point maximums, while Frederik Jakobsen bagged 14 and Villads Nagel added 13.

Ukraine took second place on 34, with Marko Levishyn topping the score chart on 10, while Stanislav Melnychuk notched nine. SGP newcomer Nazar Parnitskyi scored four.

Slovenia finished third on 21, led by seven from former SGP2 rider Anze Grmek, with Norway bagging 19 as Glenn Moi topped their scoring on eight.

Sweden won the other Semi-Final, also staged in Pardubice, on 39 points – just seeing off Latvia, who finished on 35 and also qualify as best runners-up after outscoring Ukraine by one.

Speedway GP star Fredrik Lindgren accrued 11 for Sweden, with former SGP rivals Oliver Berntzon and Kim Nilsson notching nine and Jacob Thorssell adding eight points.

World No.6 Andzejs Lebedevs was Latvia’s star man on 15, with Daniils Kolodinskis scoring eight and Jevgenijs Kostigovs collecting seven.

Prague sensation Adam Bubba Bednar led the Czech Republic score chart on 16 as they finished third on 32, while France took fourth place on 25, with David Bellego picking up 11 and Dimitri Berge tallying 10 points.

Denmark, Sweden and Latvia join hosts Poland in the European Team Championship Final in Rzeszow on May 9.
