Sweden, Great Britain and Latvia join hosts Poland in Saturday’s FIM Speedway of Nations Final after claiming the top three spots in Semi-Final 1 at Torun’s Marian Rose Motoarena on Tuesday.
A sensational Swedish team performance saw them win the Semi-Final on 40 points, with world No.4 Fredrik Lindgren starring on 18, while double Swedish champion Jacob Thorssell added 14 and debutant Timo Lahti picked up eight.
The Brits bounced back from conceding a 7-2 defeat to Sweden in their opening race to take second place on 37, with Dan Bewley collecting 22 points, while Robert Lambert raced to 15.
Third place was secured by Latvia after they defeated Germany in a Final Qualifier 7-2 to reach their third FIM SON Final in four years.
Latvia finished on 30 points after 21 heats – 20 of those scored by Speedway GP star Andzejs Lebedevs, with Daniils Kolodinskis adding eight and Jevgenijs Kostigovs collecting two.
